Herbal Infused Water

We had a blast at the Power To The Peaceful free concert in SF put on by peace and love rocker, Michael Franti. Elizabeth and I had our Eco- Herbalista booth set up and shared the lovely deliciousness of herbal infused water with the thirsty crowd of more than 100,000 folks! (not all water drinkers fortunately). Infused water is one of the easiest ways to incorporate herbs into your daily life and has virtually endless possibilities of combinations to create.People thought this was a magical elixir and on that warm day, that’s exactly what it was. What flavorful herbs did we infuse in the water from Soquel Hills well? We put in spearmint leaves, rose geranium flowers and leaves as well as lemon and orange slices.  The combination of these fragrant herbs along with the refreshing hints of citrus tasted oh oh sooo good.

You can try a combination of many common garden variety herbs like lemon balm, camomile, mints, sages, flowers like rose geranium and fruit like citrus, berries and even veggies like cucumbers.

We liked the mint because of its cooling qualities especially beneficial on hot days and we loved the addition of Rose Geranium that added the most wonderful hint of rose that was such a surprise taste for many folks. We also added sliced lemon and orange. The combination of these tastes was really quite delicious and refreshing!

How to:

In a quart sized mason jar, fill 1/4 full with fresh herbs, washed, with leaves pulled off of stems. Discard stems and damaged or bruised leaves. Fill the rest of the jar with water and refrigerate for 2 hours or up to 2 days. Strain and enjoy!
