Mulled Apple Cider is a delicious seasonal drink to be enjoyed with the best of company or in the peace and tranquility of solitude.
Ingredients:
1 gallon fresh unfiltered apple cider
6 slices orange rind, 1/2″ thick
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp of whole cloves
1 tsp whole allspice
7 pods of cardamom
3-6 cinnamon sticks
cheesecloth for spice bundle
Directions:
Simmer time: 30 minutes
- Pour 1 gallon of fresh unfiltered apple cider into a large saucepan, pot, kettle… cover and bring to a simmer.

Add slices of orange rind and ground ginger to the cider

Place 1 tsp of whole cloves, 1 tsp whole allspice, and 3 cinnamon sticks broken up, 7 pods of cardamom on a square of cheesecloth and tie into a bundle, or toss in loose into pot.

Stir cider regularly while bringing to a boil then lower back to simmer for another 15 minutes and cover. Stir occasionally.

Remove/strain the spices from the pot using a fine meshed sieve.

Ladle hot mulled cider into warmed mugs.

Add snip of brandy or spiced rum if desired

Garnish with cinnamon sticks or orange slices
